Senior Diversity Strategist
My name is Eternal Spirit Woman and my English name is Deborah Green (Gopher). I am from the Kawacatoose and Piapot’s First Nations in Saskatchewan. During my lifetime, as an Indigenous Woman, I experienced racism from a young age in mainstream society, and into my adult life faced barriers to equal opportunities in education and employment. I wanted to drive change for other Indigenous Peoples in Canada to exist in a world where they do not face the same experiences and barriers that I did, and that they may pursue their dreams.
I have 20 years’ experience in Diversity and Indigenous Inclusion services and solutions. I have developed many solutions to overcome barriers which I passionately put into my work. During my tenure at an oil and gas company, I developed my diversity role which was the first full time resource globally that was dedicated to Diversity & Employment. I developed and implemented innovative sourcing/recruitment strategies, Optimized External Brand reputation to establish marketplace presence. I engaged internal and external stakeholders/networks to promote the company as an equal opportunity employer of choice. I was also the preferred "go to" person between recruitment, business departments, and HR community to ensure focused alignments on diversity. I am very proud that I grew and led the first Indigenous employee network within an oil company in Canada from 2007 to 2014.
In 2017, I decided to venture into my own consulting business so I could offer more broad services in diversity that are customized to fit the unique needs of my clients. Thus, Corporate Cree Consulting was born. CCC will offer a path for generations of diverse Canadians and organizations to bridge gaps and erase barriers for a truly diverse Canada based on reconciliation. CCC provides customized solutions for Indigenous Peoples, Educational Institutes, and Communities that face barriers to mainstream education, employment and cultural differences, and to Companies/Organizations that seek an authentically inclusive organization.
I have 20 years’ experience within Diversity, and have maintained an extensive network of diversity organizations, networks, and contacts within Canada in all industries and private sectors, public, non-profit and govt organizations. My already established and recognized reputation as a successful SME in diversity is a competitive advantage.

“I appreciated how honest the session was. It allowed everyone to speak their mind and not only learn from Deborah but each other as well. It was an eye opening experience on where we've come and the work we still need to complete working towards Truth and Reconciliation.” Anonymous – Indigenous Facts & Current Concerns Workshop Participant
“I liked hearing and learning from an Indigenous person with lived experience. I liked the openness to discussing and unpacking the myths that people carry with them.” Anonymous – Indigenous Facts & Current Concerns Workshop Participant
"When we speak of partnerships within the Indigenous community, we often hear, “It’s all about relationship building” and “it must be authentic.” Inclusive of both of these hallmarks, Deborah Green has been instrumental in building a strong effective partnership between the LYNX Aboriginal Student Career and Employment Program at the University of Calgary and Shell Canada. In supporting the success of Aboriginal post-secondary students and alumni, Deborah Green has led her team: To host engaging and culturally relevant Aboriginal student career information luncheons; to support the LYNX Aboriginal Student Career and Employment Program for seven years and to support the Annual Graduation Banquet and Pow-wow in June for eight years."
“Deborah Green repeatedly flew to Winnipeg and offered our Aboriginal Engineering students in the Engineering Access Program at University of Manitoba the much needed information of how to enter the large and intimidating employment sector of Shell Canada. As an Aboriginal representative from Shell, Deborah helped the students to feel and know that they would be valued by Shell. Not only did she present information but literally guided our students through the arduous and complicated application process every step of the way. From Calgary, she remained devoted to our students until they completed their application process and even remained connected to the students once they were hired by Shell. I found her to be dedicated and trustworthy for the long haul of our students’ success. Thank you Deborah!”
“I am writing this testimonial on behalf of Deborah Green, who I have known and worked with for over seventeen years. Her role as a Senior Diversity Recruiter is crucial, especially in the Aboriginal community. She is a superior role model as a professional Aboriginal women who works and promotes the success of Shell. Through her activities she attracts other professional people to your team. Deborah has the capability to give advice and support to individual who only believe that this could be a dream. She has proved that is not a dream, but reality if you believe in yourself.
Her presence when attending networking events, conferences and career fairs benefits Shell as she builds trust and fosters relationships. Deborah is a vital team member and we welcome the opportunity to continue working with her.”
